Well, to start off. It's a great picture, and a lucky shot. I think that the bird facing the other way was quite a different approach to all these bird-close up pictures. You can see the feathers on it quite easily, which makes it a professionally done image.

The camera you used also captures the sparrow's colours quite well, will blends well with the log it's standing on.

The only think to improve, would be getting up a tiny bit closer. Just so we can see a bit more, or that might be ruining the picture, i'm not sure sorry. That's just what I think. But the picture is also great as is.
